Heat Sensing Coffee Table.

I was looking at this article http://home.howstuffworks.com/10-wacky-home-inventions4.htm which is about a coffee table that uses LED lights to light up the table wherever there is some object resting on it. It is an interesting concept and I think it can be expanded.

One idea can be used to make a coffee table that senses the heat of the objects that have been placed on top of it. Just like the heat sensing cameras, it would light a certain color that corresponds to the temperature of the object resting on top of it (red for hot, blue for cold). This would be useful for telling the temperature of beverages and other foods placed on the table to see if they can be eaten.
